NGD - RG550 Reissue Case Candy???
I just bought a RG550 20th Reissue RFR...dirt friggin cheap!! They guy told me the case had a nick, that some of the case candy was missing and he installed Dunlop Dual Design Straploks but lost the originals, so I wasn't expecting much.
But when it got here I was blown away!!! The guitar is mint!! The case has a tiny pin size tear on the bottom but it's a cheap ass case anyway. I'm glad Ibanez put the money into the guitar instead so who cares. I'm absolutely thrilled!!!! The maple neck is sweet to say the least.
Anyway just out of curiosity, what case candy is supposed to come with it? I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything important. I have the Manual, guitar strap, trem bar w/ extra bushings, 4 hex keys and the truss wrench. Anyone know what I'm missing and where I can find it?
Will take pictures very soon, just want to play with her for a bit, can you blame me? TIA.

You are missing some cheap crappy picks, and that's about it from what I can recall. I haven't opened my case in months, so maybe I'm missing something else, but I think that's it.

Re: NGD - RG550 Reissue Case Candy???
Just some crappy picks huh? No locking studs or anything like that? I bought her thinking she was a bit beat up. I almost feel bad now that I'm going to play the hell out of her. All you guys with the 550s tucked away still in the box untouched, you don't know what you're missing :-)
Couple of quick pics for those that are interested.

The locking studs are installed in the guitar.
I play mine all the time, the case is just packed away with the extra bits.

The most major thing would be the book about Ibanez's history. It was pretty nice looking and did have a listing of all the series and models, but really nothing major.

Somehow I think with many hours of shred-therapy I'll make it through the guilt just fine ;-)
I do appreciate it your concern though, it's nice to see fellow Jemsters looking out for others!
On a related note, I must comment on the stock pickups. I am really surprised at how good they sound. I had an RG1570 and an RG2550z and was not impressed with the stock pups to say the least. I was originally going to swap them out for my PAF Pro(n) True Velvet(m) & Evo2(b) but after hearing these pups I am not so sure. Right off the bat I'm able to get a wicked Iron Maiden tone. I may just play with them and see what other tones I can get with a little tweaking. Time will tell.
So all you other
20th Rg550
owners, what's you opinion on the these pups? Stock or swap?

I'm keeping them stock, they sound fantastic.
The book didn't come with every guitar, depended on who distributed the guitar.

+1 on the stock pickups, I love them. They are clear and responsive. I can get lots of different and useful tones out of them, from Strat-like cleans on the single coil to grinding dirty growls on the humbuckers.
And I am bummed about the book, I haven't even seen one, much less get one for free.
But of course I shouldn't complain at all, I absolutely love the 550! I'm with those who posted above who play theirs, great guitar!

Re: NGD - RG550 Reissue Case Candy???
I did a quick search on evil-bay and found the book in question. It would have been nice to have gotten the book but for the price I paid for the guitar I can live without it LOL It seems zz***ds was selling the book separately. No surprise there.
Book details here:
http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAM...old-Story.html
Does anyone know the specs on the stock pups? I had a chart once that compared the IBZ pups to what the closest Dimarzio replacement would be but for the life of me I can't find it. Either way I'm very please except now I'm going to have to find another RG550 to put my pickups in LOL
