NGD RG750
What's in the bag? (you already know cuz you read the name of the thread)
Oh hi there.
Wizard I neck.
No serial number (is it somewhere else?). And you can't see from the pic but those are Gotoh tuners.
Couple scars from over the years.
Couple issues:
1) the volume and tone knobs are misaligned
2) the tone knob doesn't work
3) there's a dead note on the D string at the 14th fret.
Other than that, it plays really well!
Since I'm a noob I'll probably take it to my luthier to get those issues sorted out.

Re: NGD RG750
Thanks!
I have no experience with Floyd Rose trems.
So I got this one all tuned up, and it seems like sometimes I can dive bomb and go nuts with the trem and it returns to perfectly in tune, and other times I do like one little one and it doesn't quite return to in tune. Does that sound like I just don't have it set up exactly correctly or something that a tech will have to fix or what?
I also realigned the volume and tone knobs. That one was easy to fix.

Re: NGD RG750
Most excellent!! the 750's are great player, high quality, as far as the fret, take a STRAIGHT EDGE , lay it across the fret board, and check to see that it isnt raised at that spot on the D string, if it is, use a hammer that has rubber on the handle, spread the strings (or better yet take em off) But if your not good with floyds it might be easier to spread the strings, tune it down 1st to take tension off strings, and lightly tap the fret down, using the handle part with the rubber on it, it could have been dropped and a fret popped up a bit, or the fret might be scored (indented) at that particular spot if thats the only spot that it does it, as far as the tuning, make sure the trem angle is set properly, there is a guide marker on the side of the edge that indicates when the baseplate is level, if the strings are new it will take a while for them to stretch, dont lock em down till after you've played the guitar a while, hope that helps ya enjoy the new toy looks like fun, later

Re: NGD RG750
I have the same guitar, mine is an 89 and is my favorite player in my collection! Enjoy it! Never sell it!!! I lived without mine for ten years and it took a while to track it down to get it back.

Thanks. I've got an appointment for the first week of July to get everything fixed.
Here's the list of things to be fixed:
- crack in the back of the headstock (luthier thinks the guitar was dropped, he said he doesn't think it's from over-tightening the nut screws)
- tone knob
- dead notes on D string 14th fret, 16th or 17th fret, and on the G string on the 14th fret when you bend it up more than a whole step. He said he thinks something fell on the guitar when it was in the bag and pushed the fret in
It plays really well, though, especially now that I fixed the trem angle (the angle was way too low when I got it). Well, except for the 3 dead notes and the tone knob not working

Re: NGD RG750
Just picked it up from the shop. The following things were fixed:
1) the tone knob was fixed so it works
2) the crack in the back of the neck by the nut screws was sealed
3) like 10 frets were replaced
4) crown/level (hooray, no more dead notes!)
5) setup/new strings
The guy I took it to is like a master luthier and has been in business for decades and pretty much everyone recommends him. He also has a one + month waiting list.

Re: NGD RG750
Nice score! I love the black ones. Cracks behind the nut are super common on the old RG's, and they have nothing to do with dropping it. He doesn't really need to know that to fix it though.
Serial stickers are often missing on the '87-'88s too. It's from whatever years the grey bobbins were available.
