NGD: RG770DX!!

I posted a bit of background on these on the RG770DX poll. Basically I couldn't make my mind up which colour I wanted, so since it's a 'once in 20 years' kind of opportunity I just took both. Check 'em out:

Apologies for the really crappy photography. I blame the camera! (I'll have to get a new one once my bank account has recovered from these two.)

Here is a few with their main running buddy

Re: NGD: RG770DX!!

I've thought and thought about this and initally I was going to just pull these out to play now and again, but 2 things come to mind that changed my opinion:

1. I'm damn careful anyway out of respect to the instrument. It's not like I'm going to be swinging it around on stage.

2. Look at those poor guys on here (I think it was Demogorgus and HS43... if I spelt those correctly.) One had a fire and lost all his guitars, the other was lucky as hell that his managed to survive the blaze. I might sit on these and try to preserve them, but at the end of the day *I* could die tomorrow, nevermind the guitars! So I'm going to enjoy every minute of these.

To be able to buy these guitars brand new is a dream come true. I wasn't born early enough to be able to afford these guitars the first time around and to me it's truly special to be able to buy an absolute brand new, untouched, unplayed Ibanez from my favourite era of the company

Re: NGD: RG770DX!!

Not yet. It'll be interesting to see how they sound in comparison to my original RG750.

The problem is, they're very 'raw' at the moment. The fret-ends are sharp as hell (REALLY sharp to the point of it being pretty damn uncomfortable to play) and they need a full pro setup before I can put them through their paces since the intonation and action isn't right on them.

Can't wait! And to be truthful, I should've done this with the RG20ths. RG565's have GOT to be on the way next year!

Congrats man!

Play those things and don't look back. Guitars make terrible investments, and you should enjoy them.

Thanks, yeah they have Prestige cases, not sure why though because they're not 'Prestige' which is weird.

Either way, they will be Prestige once my local luthier gets his hands on them

Re: NGD: RG770DX!!

I'm happy for you 249, and extremely jealous. I want a new guitar so bad, but I can't afford one. I feel like I did when I was 15 and got the huge musicians friend catalouge every month and would just stare at the Les Paul custom for hours on end wondering how in the world I was eve going to have $2599.99 to buy one (man my tastes have changed all I want now is another RG560 in some sort of green color).

So with that in mind play till you die and don't be a ***** and not use those bad ass guitars.

Re: NGD: RG770DX!!

I'm very surprised at the fret ends. My 20th wasn't perfect but it's no worse or better than my 1987 original. Neither of them were / are uncomfortable. I'm kinda disappointed in Ibanez for not finishing the fret ends to Prestige level, because the original 770DX had very good frets, IIRC.
