Oh dear... new RG

Fresh from the Ibanez forums, here is a new guitar they've annouced...

RG350MDXBK
- 3pc Wizard II Neck.
- Maple Fretboard w/ BlackShark Tooth Inlay.
- Basswood Body.
- Jumbo Frets.
- Edge II Bridge.
- IBZ INF3 Neck Pickup.
- IBZ INFS3 Mid Pickup.
- IBZ INF4 Bridge Pickup.
- Black 3-Ply Pickguard.
- Gloss ***** Finish.
- Traditional Black Headstock.
- 1 Vol. 1 Tone. 5-Pos. Switch.

Maple board = nice

Everything else = WTF?

I've just edited the colour out, anyone care to guess what it is?

*HINT* same colour as most of there guitars these days.

Hmm... I wonder what colour it is? LOL

Ah well, at least it's a step in the right direction. The maple fretboard makes a very welcome return. But Black??? Come on Ibanez, have a bit of diversity, a bit of a change. Black is cool but please, it's so unoriginal, some interesting new colours needed!

Cool, now let's do this on some higher end models. I love that look.

UGH. NICE! But yep, shame it's on such a low end model. WTF. I was just saying to my girlfriend yesterday how cool it'd be if they did a black sharkstooth inlay on maple. Now it's come true but on an RG350. DAMN!

Re: Oh dear... new RG

I have no problem with black. Either a white or white pearloid pickguard would look fantastic on that guitar.

I hope you're right, Nuno. What I'm wondering now though is whether or not to go buy an RG2550, or should I wait? HELP! I need a new guitar ASAP and I can't wait much longer. I don't wanna go ahead and buy the 2550 if there's something better right around the corner. This will be my first new axe in 16 years (last one was a purple neon RG750), so it's gotta be a good one.

I'm actually interested as to what a maple board on a cheap Korean will be like. It may be pretty cool to own as a practice guitar and get swirled or something.

No doubt that's Ibanez responce to the Jackson DK2M.
The thing is with Jackons for the same money you get a Japanese made guitar that's available in 9 colours.

^^ Nice guitar, shame about the trem. I guess it could be replaced with an OFR?

Re: Oh dear... new RG

I like Jackson's maple-boarded dinky in white, Ibanez should offer that, too.

Then again, this could be Ibanez mocking everyone who has complained about all the black guitars: "We do what we want- now we're doing BLACK finish, BLACK pickguard, BLACK PICKUPS, and BLACK inlays- so screw you!!!!"

OFR, FR Pro and FRII are all a straight swap but if you have a look on the JCM forum most people are not complaingin too much about the JT 580 trem.
It is a TRS derivative but it's Japanese made and the baseplate is hardened steel so it's fine.
