Re: Ok so where is THIS Euphoria?

It looks to me that the woodgrain is different on these guitars both on the face and on the sides. Maybe it is a different prototype...

Sounds like a prototype. Maybe Mikey or Tak will shed some light on it... How does it sound?

Well I sent Mikey a message, lets see what he says, I'm sure Rich would agree contemplating about it and making theories isn't going to get us very far.

Re: Ok so where is THIS Euphoria?

Hey folks,

Thanks for summoning me.

I took the photo of Steve with the acoustic Euphoria. This was before the EP9 came out, and was one of several prototypes they showed Steve. I can't remember if the others were nylon strings too, but they each had a slightly different woodgrain and finish, although all were basically the same color as the production model EP9s. Unfortunately I didn't take pictures. I don't know if Ibanez planned to actually create production nylon strings, but I doubt it. Steve is not really a nylon player, but I remember him being quite thrilled with the prototype he's pictured playing.

Steve has at least one of them in his studio. I wish I'd known about this thread earlier because I was there today and could have looked. I was distracted by something else instead..

The guitar Steve is playing in the photo does have an orange vine inlay, and the vine stem was a little thicker than the production models.

You probably have a prototype. Congratulations! Not sure how it got out though. For even further info, we'd need to find out who actually gave it to your brother.

I'll see Steve on the weekend, so I'll try to remember to ask about it then. Generally though, Steve doesn't retain this kind of info, and usually looks to me to remember it all..

Cheers!

Mikey

Thanks Mikey for the info. It's been near impossible up until now to find any information about the guitar. My brother got it about 2 years ago and I can gaurantee he doesn't remember who he got it from - he's kind of a flake like that, but he does find me some good stuff on occasion . The photo I took was in the evening so I needed the flash and it kinda washed out the grain pattern and accentuated the flameyness in the wood, in natural light it show more of the grain pattern as shown in the photo you took of Steve but with obvious differences. I'm not much of a nylon sting player myself. It has a wide neck like a classical, sounds alot like a classical unplugged. I've never plugged it into an amp as I don't have one designed for acoustic guitars. It sure looks cool though. Thanks again for the help,

Sam

Do you know what color it may be?

I have both, they are fun!

I just wanted to bump up to the top to see if anyone else could give me anymore info on the supposedly "non-existent" Euphoria. Thanks,

Sam

If you watch the new Jemini Distortion pedal video you'll see another nylon string Euphoria next to a normal one while Vai is playing Evo...

The real question is... what happened to that double-neck Euphoria/Jem hybrid Steve's being photographed with for Real Illusions and Sound Theories?!

Re: Ok so where is THIS Euphoria?

OK, I don't have that one, but I did buy this one a few weeks ago, and it is very nice in many ways. Maybe not the attention to detail of some of the Ibanez products, but for the most part , very nice. The Aura blows away any of the other pre amps I have used in the past and unplugged this is the sound I like. It does seem to be a little fussy with weather changes, but it has been crazy weather in Philly lately , temps up and down and humidity up and down along with dew points. Anyway, so far this is a great guitar.

It looks like they added a suspened brace that may not have been on the original EP9s ?

I can't show PICs until I get past 20 posts, so not sure if they added the "flying V " Brace after the guitar was built ? When I am able to pst a pic I will
