Paul Gilbert Video: RG750 or RG770?

was wondering which model this guitar of his is

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcybQQFMPG0

is it a 750 or a 770?

are the differences between the 750's and 770's the same as the differences between the 550's and 570's

It's an RG750 in Five Alarm Red. And yeah, the differences between the 750/770 are pretty much the same as those between the 550/570.

i've always wondered, why is it "five alarm red". isn't it "fire alarm"?

A 5-alarm fire tends to imply a gigantic fire. In the Ibanez context I guess it means a "really hot red".

No, it's five alarm. The term is used to describe a fire so big that fire engines from five different stations/companies have to be called in.

I like his clean tone much more than his dirty tone on this vid.

750's and 770's both have Edge trems; this guitar is a hardtail.

That is the famous "Dino" guitar. Supposedly that is the first guitar that Ibanez sent to Paul.

it used to have an Edge trem, then Paul had it filled up and put a fixed bridge on. see pic below:

he did that on some of his formerly trem-equipped guitars, like the Telesavalas and his famous 300.

Seems unlikely, Paul was in an ad with a PL2550, and that had to have been before the RG7xx series came out. I thought it was in a catalog, but it might have been a print ad...
