PGM800??

I have the chance to buy a pgm800 at a pretty good price...

The thing is, in order to buy it, i have to sell two of my ibanez guitars, my only two guitars... I have no problem with letting one go, but i dó like the other one. This is really hard for me, because i really LOVE a pgm800.

This really is a though choice

Can anyone give me some feedback?

(ps. the guitars i would have to sell is a RG550LTD NP, and a a RG2550.

I dont think so. the PGM seems like a bit of a rip off, you'd think even with the dimarzios, it would cost more to manufacture a 2550 than a PGM.

PGM800s are valuable because they were only made for the Japanese market and for a fairly limited time. If you were talking PGM301s then fair enough, but it's still a signature model that bumps the price up. So by your thinking every Jem ever made would be a rip off too.

Oh that one, well if youre a collector or love PGMs then yeah its probably worth it.

I've read that the pu's are tonezone- jem single - humbucker from hell.

the one crevis posted looks like it has two tone-zone's (just like the one i'm looking at).

Different production year?

Keep the 550 cause its cool, and its got the better hardware, sell the 2550 cause its got an Edge Pro, and its boring to look at...

The borrow some money, and get the PGM

You really dont get much even with that pgm.

having looked at it better,
If you had a PGM collection but were desperatley missing this one model, sell your other guitars and buy it. If not and you just want a PGM then it really isnt worth it.

This is the way to go IMO. I've got several 550s and I can't stand the 2550s, they offer nothing to me that I can get with my 550s, except the AANJ (I actually prefer the square joint, so that means little to me) and the Edge Pro (which I hate).

Out of curiousity, why don't you get much with a PGM? Becasue it doesn't have a trem? No tone knob? Every PGM I've ever played, at least the Japanese ones, has been incredible. Very nice feel, very well constructed. The necks on the PGMs are a little thicker than the Wizards as well, which is nice when you have big hands. As far as manufacturing costs, well, all cutting is done on CNC machines, so there's not much difference, I don't think. A little difference in hardware, but they've got all of that down to a science, I'd assume. Actually, if you know anything about mass production, the changes on the PGM - lefty tuners, hard tail, different electonics, no pup rings, f-hole paint - probably make it cost more to produce because it's not what they would usually do in the line. Not to mention, I'd bet there were a difference in final inspection that they'd take a little more time on the fine details on the signature models over the others.

I have absolutely no doubt in the quality craftsmanship of them but I really dont think there worth as much a 550 and a 2550, an edge pro is worth alot more than a fixed and I really dont think you should pay for the having the privalage of the exact same thing but lefty, even if it does cost more for them to make. I would find a cheaper 2nd hand PGM if i really wanted one.

This PGM is really just a collectable and is not worth paying that much just to play it. If you really want a pgm, then get it, but i dont think its worth selling 2 good guitars for.

Really, you should own one and play it thoroughly before passing judgement on this guitar. Ask anyone that's actually owned one.

Like i said, Its not worth paying THAT much and I wouldnt like it anyway because the necks too thick.

Have you played a PGM800?? because a short while ago you didn't know what a PGM800 was.

They are all different, don't think an 800 is the same as any of the others.
