Photoshop & Mock-up Experts, Please Help
Hey Guys,
I just got a flame shaped body from Legacy One ('Bay auction, went well, details in another thread). Anyway, I will need to have the guitar painted. Right now, I am looking at three options:
1) Have it finished just like the original, from the "Goin' Crazy" video (and on Vai.com, under machines)
2) Same vibe as the original, just with a Lazer Blue outer burst, fading to a black center. Probably alot more "me".
3) Some type of Hot Rod Flame finish, like on Andy Martin's RGs or the Washburn Maya.
Any mockups and help are appreciate. If it helps, it will have black hardware, regular black RG headstock, 24 fret maple board.
Thank you in advance.
Cheers,
Butch

This is a really quick mock-up of option 2, but hopefully it gives the general idea you need:
Good luck deciding!

isn't there a tool from a member here that creates the above image?
I can't find it.

The tool you're talking about is called VRG builder,
www.jemsite.com/vrg
But it doesn't supply that body shape. What I did was use a program called Kisekae Guitar (from the Complete Telecaster website) to make the neck, headstock, bridge and pickup, then grabbed a photo of the body and tone knob off google images and added it in on photoshop, then changed it.

Re: Photoshop & Mock-up Experts, Please Help
I was reading your post and thinking "a blue flame would be really cool" and sure enough, that's one of your options. I would definitely do the blue flame thing, rather than the orange.
I would, however, not fade to black. I would either do really bright, light blue edges fading to dark blue, or the exact opposite.
Light fading to dark in the center is more realistic and can be seen here:

Dark fading to light blue in the center is what airbrush artists tend to do (well it depends on the background color sometimes):

Re: Photoshop & Mock-up Experts, Please Help
Thanks for the mockup, Pursuit.
The blue flame of the gas burner was very much what I was thinking of. Just verbalizing it may not have come off as clear. The original flame guitars have a very definative, almosy cartoony appearance, which was why I said blue to black.
Any other input is appreciated.
Cheers,
Butch
