Pickguard question...
One of my
Ibanez guitars
is an RGR570, I was just wondering would it be possible to modify it with a 550 style pickguard, ie- would the pots, p/u selecter and screws all line up? Has anyone ever tried this? I think it'd look cool as the RGR570 was a
reverse headstock
version of the 570, and I think it'd look cool with a pickguard.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Pickguard question...
Yeah it'll work. Jems & RGs pickguard, pups, etc. should be all universal. Variances should be allowed, however, for HH vs. HSH pup configurations.
My question is why do you want to drill holes in a guitar?

Re: Pickguard question...
I just think it'd look cool. It has a Flaked Blue finish, blue pick ups, blue knobs etc and a colour matched reverse headstock. I think it will look even cooler with a blue mirror pickguard!

Re: Pickguard question...
Can't you just get a blue mirror pickguard for a RG 570? Why does it have to be a RG550?

Re: Pickguard question...
The RG570 was a none pickguard model. That's the reason why I was asking whether or not it would be actually possible to fit a pickguard to it, with regards to the pots/selecter lining up etc.

Re: Pickguard question...
I've seen it done. What is typically done is there is a cut out around the pickup selector.

Re: Pickguard question...
I did it to my 1999 RG570. I also stripped the paint and added a
monkey grip
&
Fernandes Sustainer
FSK 101. The pickguard came off a old RG550, do not know what year, but I did not have to make any modifications.
