Pics inside: Weird RG series with monkey grip? not a jem? Anyone know?

hey does anyone know what guitar this is? It's definetly made in japan.... has a nice top but it has a monkey grip..... what gives? edge tremolo too....

The monkey grip has been a poor mod imho.

so its not original? this looks like a quilted sapele 620?

damn i still like the guitar, but rg's didnt have monkey grips, its just a mod

Beautiful guitar...it's a shame they ruined it with the grip...

The grip itself is actually very well done, looks very good.

It's just the PLACEMENT of the grip that is absolutely horrible and makes the whole guitar look bad imo...

That grip looks terrible.
Apart from the fact that it looks a bit chewed on the front edge it's at a ridiculous angle too,and it's a grip on an RG,which is pretty sinful in itself.

It could well be one of the Sapele 620's.
Need some brighter pics.
I think they did them in trans blue and brown.

definetly not a 520... it has a thick top with 'binding' or that stripe of wood.... 520's dont have that also... the pickups are direct mount..... i have a 520QS so i'd definetly know...
