PICS: My Paint Job Progress...

so here are some (bad) pics, having just finished spraying the colour coat onto my 550 body. i used duplicolor mirage colour-shifting paint. just got the clearcoat to go. looking forward to taking some pics in sunlight once it's done (and once ontario gets some sunlight).

Re: PICS: My Paint Job Progress...

i've done a gutiar in mirage. nothing like 20 bucks for color shift.. haha.. i can't get the pics to come out at all though.. plus i don't think i did a real great job with it on my first try.. which color is that... purple to green?? mine was in maroon to gold, which is more like.. brown to yellow.. haha.. i'm doing another in green to silver, and may redo the one i've already done. looking forwrd to seeing yours completed

Re: PICS: My Paint Job Progress...

mine is "ice" over a black base. won't have the full effect until the clear is on.

i originally did this body with the red/blue version, but wasn't happy with the result (my fault), so this is round two. it's going much better this time - i'm being much more patient.

Re: PICS: My Paint Job Progress...

haha yeah.. i wasn't patient at all.. i left dents in the wood which i didn't take the time to notice. i didn't buff out the clear coat to make it a smooth finish. i jsut wanted it done cuase i started it.. then about 3 months later i had the time to work on it.. so i just zoomed.. the next one i'm going to take special care of... looks good so far though. if you think it turns out real well.. let me know if there are any tips i should follow for the next one i do. really.. if they come out well, it's a fantastic paint job for the price.

Re: PICS: My Paint Job Progress...

what about the pickguard? it definitely won't be painted!

i have the original black pickguard, but i'm not sure if it's going to look the goods once the paint is done. i think this guitar could be a good argument for either a mirror guard or even a polished metal one.

It would look cool without a pickguard as well IMO.

Re: PICS: My Paint Job Progress...

Looks good damo7v!

Yeah, that mirage stuff is hard to photograph, I had to take alot of pics of my S with red/blue mirage to get the ones good enough to show anybody.

I think I like the idea of a mirror pickguard, and some black pickups maybe.
