Please identify this guitar
Hi,
I just bought this guitar at **** but can't find it in any catalog or elsewhere...
The seller wasn't sure either and I don't have it here yet to unscrew the neck...
Can you tell me something about it?
Color, what type of wood is it made of, Pickups, Modelname, Quality, Rareness... ??????
Only thing I know is the serial that says - made in Japan in 1994...
Thanks

Re: Please identify this guitar
I'm not 100%, but it could be a RG470.
That said, I can't add it all up. So it's probably something else.

Re: Please identify this guitar
I think it's above because of the gold hardware and the "Edge" trem...
the 470 has black hardware, a lo-trs and wasn't available in that color i think

Re: Please identify this guitar
NICE guitar
I don't know what model it is... I don't think it's a custom job, i looks to 'real' for that...
Maybe some 'Japan only' release or something?

Re: Please identify this guitar
thats a tough one, its a 570-something-, a similar one was released in 95 with a lo
pro edge
. If this is the same as that one, then its alder with a maple top.
as above, it could be a 470FM with new, gold hardware/trem.

Re: Please identify this guitar
Probably a euro or japanese only model.
RG670MH? I know there was a RG6xx series in Europe with gold hardware and a wood finish like that(photoed guitar looks like mahogany).

Re: Please identify this guitar
I thought that it could be that alder/maple top thingy too but look at the chip on the upper side in the last picture - the wood looks too dark to be maple
another contra for a top is that the wood looks likely the same on front and back of the guitar...
yeah, it's really hard to tell...
I hope I didn't overpay the seller - I bought it for 389,88€ - thats approx. 511,79 US$ at the moment
Edit:
I get better pics this evening

Re: Please identify this guitar
Youd expect a 6xx to have a lo pro tho, you'll know for sure when you get it tho.

Re: Please identify this guitar
YES - that seems to be it.
I just found it over @ ibanezregister with this specs:
BODY LIGHT ASH
NECK 1Pc MAPLE
FRETBOARD ROSEWOOD
BRIDGE EDGE
HARDWARE GOLD
PICKUP CONFIG H-S-H
PICKUP'S V6F (N)
RTS (M)
V6F (B)
CONTROL 5 WAY
FINISHES NTM (NATURAL MATT)
RBR (ROOT BEER)
okay ... so now - what can you tell me about it? is it worth it's money? how is this wood sounding? I never played anything like that...

Re: Please identify this guitar
No doubt if it remains in decent condition, it will end up a collectable and will be worth the money you payed, from a functional point of view, i dont think its worth that much but the 'rare' factor might add to it.

Re: Please identify this guitar
Any of the ash/alder bodied 570s seem to bring $4-500 when I see them on the bay.

Re: Please identify this guitar
I think it probably is worth it. The ash body was only available on a couple of models and has quite a different sound and look to the normal basswood ones they're not that common and the fact you're in Europe all add to the costs (and local value) of the guitar.

Re: Please identify this guitar
and how does this ash body sound compared to basswood?
I'm a huge Petrucci fan and want to put DiMarzios (Steves Special &
Air Norton
) in it - how will it sound with these pickups?
thanks for your patience on all my questions
