I can't post pics here, but an associate is modding several SA series with veneered tops and personally made necks. I always thought the SA series was under-rated in terms of sound and build quality, and with the mods he's done they look/sound like instruments costing three times as much.

-switched out cosmo trem to black
-DiMarzio PAF Joe/Fast Track/Mo Joe pickups
-VLX91 switch and CTS brass shaft pots
-Ernie "Cobalt' strings
-Power Cosmo tuning keys (will probably switch to black)
-Waiting on black pickup rings

Not at all actually...all the parts were off of ebay. About 1/3 the cost of a new S5470 Prestige.

I'm having major issues with the electronics right now. I've got a very strange issue I cannot track down. So...yeah it LOOKS like it would play well but I haven't had a chance to really dial it in. It's like having a supermodel on your couch and you're not allowed to touch her.

But yeah, I agree, saw potential in it and thought I'd go for it.

Here's my attempt on fabric on an RG 550. Now I need to start wetsanding and smoothing some edges. A bit of the fabric came over the edge so the bridge doesn't quite fit in.

Still no idea about the colors of the pickguard, pickups, knobs..
