Pro-line PR2660

I found a PL2660 (i think) at a pawnshop like guitar store. In any case the guy wants $1500 for it but he doesnt really know the real price for it. It's the white one or champagne or w/e idk. It's a neckthrough with the shark inlays. Anyways, could someone tell me how much it's worth? I want the guitar but i don't want to get screwed over cuz i don't have too much money.
Thanks,
Matt

Re: Pro-line PR2660

I wouldn't pay more that $600 for it, personally. $1500 would get you a used Jackson RR1, $800 will get you a 90's Jackson Rhoads Pro(MIJ Neckthrough). The 2660 is nice, and somewhat rare, but it's not a collectible, IMO.

Re: Pro-line PR2660

I have a PL1770GP , PL1880NW and a PL1880WN.The fact the PL2260 is a neck
through and has shark fin inlays DOES NOT make it worth $1500. All 3 of my Pro-lines are
in 8-9 condition and I didn't pay anywhere close to $1500 for any of them. Heck I don't
even have $1500 in all 3 of mine combined...I agree with toshiro, $600-$700 max
and that's if it comes with the original small/grey case.

Pro-lines ARE getting highly sought after. They don't bring the high
dollar value of the Jems etc. but if a PL1880 or better comes up on the
bay, people will "fight it out". I'll say this, quality wise, Ibanez doesn't
make much nowdays that even comes close to the quality of these
guitars..

People have also been driving the price of late 80's RGs to insane levels, though. I associate 'collectible' with 'put in a vault or glass case'.

Ya, I've noticed the late 80's early 90's RG's seem to be getting more valuable. I had a 570 I couldn't get $200 for last year... I'm sure the guy I traded it to sold it for $350 or more by now.

I wouldn't go over 650 if it was mint with original case. I'm not a collector though, so I wouldn't be buying from a collector standpoint or mentality.

I've been gathering a few. Great guitars. Monster tone machines.
