Putting the new Ibanez ZR Bridge into a 2002 Ibanez rgt42???

hey, i just ordered a 2002 ibanez rgt42 and found out it has a lo-trs II bridge which isnt gonna fly... so my options are to A) find out if i can put the ZR Bridge into this guitar which is what I am mainly asking seeing as how this seems to be the nicest bridge they put out so far... or b) return this guitar for the 03 rgt42 with the pro edge II or finally c) return this and get the 03 s470 with a quilt top that already has the zr bridge... i think id rather have the zr equipped s then the edge pro equipped rg since ive heard that the new edge pro has problems with intonation and staying in tune with the whammy because they no longer use the locking studs with the new model... anyways the optimal thing for me would be the first one option A the rg with the zr bridge is it possible? how much work? is it worth spending the money? shoould i just get the s470...

Retrofitting any other trem wouldn't be worth the expense or the effort.
I'd return the guitar and get a nice Japanese-made model. Or, if you've got your mind set on an RGT42, pick up a 2003 model with the greatly-improved new trem

ive actually read that the new edge bridges keep tune and intonation badly because of the lack of locking studs that they had pre 03... you think the new s470 is a good choice??? the neck-thru isnt what i need for sustain but playability on the upper frets... im getting a fernandes sustainer in this guitar whatever it is... so the only draw back on the s470 is the lack of 24 frets... it only has 22... i dont use the last 24 much but i like it there just in case... but i think i would sacrafice it for that bitchin bridge...

Maybe you didn't fully read or understand the reviews. The EP and EPII can be whammied to hell and back and always return in tune, until you pull up on the bar without pushing it past neutral again.

The EP, EPII, and ZR are all fixed to the body using lock-less studs [yes, even the ZR's ball bearings are mounted to non locking studs]. Of course the EP and EPII can be converted to locking studs easily. The ZR possibly but doesn't seem to need it, it's return probably has more to do with the lack of knife/stud contact.

i had the lotrs2 on for about... oh a week... the thing is terrible... it kills any benefits of the neck thru design because it is so thin and made of such crappy metal... i put the old school non lopro edge in it, and it worked miracles on the guitar... the lotrs isn't worth its weight in poop... its a terrible trem, they should have never put it on the rgt42, it is one of the 2 downfalls of this guitar(the other being those terrible INF pickups)... honestly shred i'd get the rgt42 and see if u couldn't put the ZR in it, i doubt it would be as hard as the first guy said, or even expensive, other than actually buying the trem, and it would most likely do wonders for the RGT42... i wouldn't personally own a S series, they are too thin for me, and the necks only have 22 frets, which generally means upper fret access will be limited as opposed to a 24 fret neck thru design where its easy to even hit the 24th fret...

ok, well, i fear working on my own guitar... so while it would be inexpensive for me to do it, haveing my local tech do it would probably be hell, ill run it by him though, if he thinks it can be done for a resonable price that would be optimal, if not i think Ill return it and get the 03 rgt42 for an extra 200 bucks...
