Question about my new RG770DX

As Bikeman said, the pickups were direct-mounted on later models, and it was the same with the RG670DX (essentially the same guitar as the 770DX only with QM pickups) -- these also had direct-mounted pickups.

So my purple one is an earlier model then, great.

I`d shoot myself in the foot right now, a guy wanted to sell me his blue one a couple years ago and i thought $400 was a bit much and said i`ll pass. What fool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was signed by Marty Friedman too.

I gotta stop thinking about it, i`d have all 3 now...@:

Yeah, early one, probably a 91. Look at the serial on the back of the headstock to be sure -- if it starts with F91, it's a 1991. And so on...

Nope - Violet Metallic was only available in '92 and '93 on the RG770DX and '94 on the RG670DX. My 670 has the AANJ too.

OK,i`m offficially confused. The direct mounted pickups where supposed to be on the earlier models but mine is a recent one and has them???

I think they where direct mounted only on the "metallic violet"models, cause i`ve never seen a blue or red with those.

I forged my own conclusion.

Wrong. Direct mount came later, in 1992. Read my posts properly
