Question about the RG2020X

I am looking to replace the evolutions that I recently had installed in my RG2020X with another set of dimarzios. I do realize that it is mainly personal preference, but what kind of pickup combinations would the rest of you 2020X owners suggest?

Question about the RG2020X

IMHO the all mahogany construction of the RG2020's body is best served by pickups that are slightly "lighter" than the Evos. Thus I'd say PAF Pros or a PAF Pro in the neck and a Fred in the bridge.

I must say that I don't own an RG2020 so that's just my opinion based mainly on playing around with my JS6 which has the same construction.

Question about the RG2020X

I have a 2020 with an Air Norton and a Steve's Special. The AN is great in the neck position, but the SS is a little too "scooped" for me on mahogany. The Tone Zone, IMO, sounds great in the bridge position on mahogany guitars.

Question about the RG2020X

Sounds like I am going to go with either air norton & steve's special or perhaps AN and Tone zone. *One more thing though, has anyone ever noticed that the 2020x has an overall lower output than similar guitars with the same pickups. Before I changed the pickups in the 2020 I adjusted the action and pickup height on my RG520qs to the same measurements and played them both through the same amp, the 2020x sounded slightly but noticeably quieter. *Maybe its just my guitar, but has anyone done any comparisons and experienced anything similar to this?
