Questions about Ibanez's

I'm looking for a new guitar, and I'm thinking of two options. One, is to buy a high-end guitar that is between $1000-$1400, or buying a (roughly) $500 guitar and replacing the pickups (Kent Armstrong Motherbucker, kthx).

I played a RGT42DXFMTLF, and a S520EX (Black, new version, cover pickups). What are the closest high end versions? (RGT = Mahogany)

I think that if you want a truly great neck-thru Ibanez then go with an RGT220. Personally, I'm more a fan of the RG2xxx and RG3xxx series guitars.

Re: Questions about Ibanez's

Get a used RG550/570, it's a great guitar and good for upgrades etc. Though it's not a neckthrough guitar.

Second that, although we all say it all the time here, a 550 or 570 and then mod the crap out of it is your best bet. Best way to go I reckon.

Re: Questions about Ibanez's

The way to go is a used 550/570. They're cheaper by a long shot, and they have the original edge and they're great guitars and great to upgrade. I have two early Rg's one I'm currently customizing. That's the way to go I think, but, it is your money.
Galen.

I'm guessing the 570 is no longer in production?

No it's not. Basically the same model has been renamed to a 1570.
