Racer X Ibanez?

Any of you guys know what model of Ibanez guitar Paul Gilbert and Bruce Bouillet played at around the time of the first Extreme Volume album. I always wondered what these guitars were. Maybe they were custom made instruments for them? I've posted a link to a vid where you can see the guitars:

Any info really appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you. At 2:35 in the first video, Paul plays a lick that had been following me in my head since more than a decade. Finally the reference.

No clue about the guitar however, sorry .

same axe... better close-up

... a mini-humbucker in the neck, clear pickguard, and some odd bridge (notice plastic grip on tip of whammy bar).
My speculation is definitely an 'endorsee model', maybe it was a Roadstar prototype... an early precursor to the modern day RG perhaps?

Did a bit of trawling through the intenet and it turns out that they are custom made by Ibanez for Paul and Bruce and basically styled on an Epiphone Coronet guitar. Damn I'd be interesred in buying one of those Epiphones and spraying it shocking pink!!

Here's a pic of the Epiphone:

that's not the same guitar. The one in the first videos is bright pic with a different type of body. the one from Intense Rock is purple with an RG style body.

Re: Racer X Ibanez?

In early 88' I lived out in LA, and had the opportunity to take a lesson from Bruce. I only went once because he lived waaaaay out east of where I lived on Sunset. He had several really cool one off Ibbys there. The one I'll always remember was this really sweet Lochness Green, set neck.......and if I remember correctly 3/4 size Destroyer. It had an Edge too. Just a killer axe.

I also saw the one he's playing in this video......really close up. Oh, and Bruce was just a MONSTER player as you probably can imagine.

Heh, I'm the one who uploaded that video.

As for the OP's question, those guitars were custom made for Paul and Bruce. They were based on a customized Epiphone Wilshire that Paul used to play in the early days of Racer X, it was painted orange. Here's a picture of what a stock Wilshire looks like.

They also had custom Iceman/Destroyer guitars.

Re: Racer X Ibanez?

That pink guitar is an early paul gilbert signature that Ibanez made for him.
