I would offer $700 at most for that guitar.

That dude is high if he thinks that guitar with those cracks and chips can command that type of cash, if you download the bluebook link, all those prices are nuts, especially in this economy. I agree, $700 tops for it.

Re: Rare 540P around the bay, possibly skolnick custom

I've never seen an HSH PII before though, who knows how rare it actually is or whether it really is a factory HSH.

With regards to its value, it's worth as much as anyone is willing to bid on it.

The bluebook is so out of whack anyway as to be almost worthless in the real world. The only thing to go on is the open market price, which these days is the bay.

the single-coil cavity has not been professionally made, you can see it by the upper edge of the cavity, it's not straight. looks like someone's made it with a hand router. i don't really think that the LACS guys would do such bad of work.

Very good for spotting this Nuno. It does look a bit wobbly after some closer inspection of the pictures.

Wow, I've always wanted that model. The price is a little shocking though.

The back of the headstock has been obviously sanded too where the serial number would appear.

I was reffering to it still having the serial on it versus being sanded off; clearly a sign of forgery. It like someone scrapping the VIN off a car to me - illegal.

Re: Rare 540P around the bay, possibly skolnick custom

Whether the middle single was routed by someone non-Ibanez, remember, that year they were importing bodies with bridge HB's only and routing them in Bensalem (I believe) as custom guitars. That's when you see the painted bridge HB cavity, but hard edged other pickup cavities with shielding paint in there. Those were done by Ibanez.

Everything else, including the fact that the IBZUSAF3 pretty much only appeared on that guitar I think, says it's original. The neck is a Skolnick, I can tell by the lock nut and string tree.

Of course not worth the price he's asking, but fun to discuss anyway!
