removing spring

hi i have a rg1550

the problem with it is that the trem is too stiff and it requires a lot of strength to push the whammy down.
it has 3 springs at the back now.
can i remove one and get it re setup?
thanks

Re: removing spring

Yup. Take one out and screw the plate they're attached to into the body further in.

Re: removing spring

what skins said and let me add...

providing your guitar is currently setup correctly the trem should be sitting pretty level with the body. make a mental note of where it sits before doing this spring removal and also TUNE your guitar prior to doing this.

Carefully remove the spring and be careful not to scratch the crap out your axe.
once removed the guitar will be out of tune and the trem will be sitting up at an angle.
Screw the claw screws further into the body a little at a time checking the tuning and the trem angle as you go. once you get it right, the guitar should be pretty close to in tune and the trem angle will be back to where it was before.

hope that helps
