Re: Replacing my Ibanez bridge

I had a local noob a few years ago bought a JS1200 from the local shop. He was the guitar player in a friend of mines nephews band, so I got the "my guitar keeps going flat" calls. And I kept telling him he wasn't stretching the strings enough, he kept telling me he stretched them to no end. After a couple weeks of this he finally came over, I unlocked the E/A pad and in one shot stretched the E string down to almost slack, and looked at him with that "I told you so" look.

OK. Point taken. I'll keep on stretching.

Don't keep stretching, stretch them once and stretch them right. It's the only way to eliminate it from the list. And when I said try to break the low E string I meant it. If you break it you'll know just how hard it is, replace it, and stretch just a little lighter next time.

Re: Replacing my Ibanez bridge

I used the steps found here: http://www.ibanezrules.com/tech/setup/stretch.htm

And I'm back at square one. I posted a thread last week about my bridge and the tuning drifting flat. I thought it was the weather here in Vegas, because it happened out of nowhere. The strings had been on my guitar for a good month, and I'd been playing it very regularly without having ANY issues with the tuning. I couldn't get it out of tune if I tried. Then, out of nowhere....it started going flat.

I also tried different springs and that didn't help. The room my guitars are in is temperature controlled, and it hasn't gotten dry here in Vegas yet. We've had no overall change in the humidity since I've gotten the guitar.

Oh....and they all go flat at the same rate. So, my low E doesn't go flat any quicker than my A or G strings.

Re: Replacing my Ibanez bridge

With my luck I'd have tuning issues with one of those as well.

Re: Replacing my Ibanez bridge

Is the nut firmly clamped? Are you sure the bridge knife edges are perpendicular to the trem posts?

Re: Replacing my Ibanez bridge

Yeah....nut is firmly clamped.

I believe the knife edges are. I'm not infront of the guitar right now.
