Replacing my Ibanez bridge

I have an RG4EXQM1 and I believe the bridge that it came with is an Edge 3. (Please correct me if I'm wrong) What would be the next step up for an upgrade, without having to worry about space issues. I'd like something that will just drop right in with no mods.

Thanks!

I don't know the answer off hand but you may try a search as I think this has been asked before.
Good luck.

Re: Replacing my Ibanez bridge

most ibanez bridges are not interchangable, but maybe a edge pro??? I have a 94 rg470, and i tryed to replace the trs with a edge pro and it didnt fit, i payed a dude to route it out and it still doesnt fit the hole guitar is screwed now, so be careful if your routing it out, you might just want to stick with the original. Whats wrong with it??

Re: Replacing my Ibanez bridge

Having major tuning issues. I posted another thread on here and got some tips as far as what to check for....but it still won't hold. I put on new strings (I stretched them plenty) and even tried new springs. Everytime I get it in tune, it slowly goes flat. I even made sure the screws holding the claw were fine, and they are. Not too sure what's up with it.

Re: Replacing my Ibanez bridge

Is the tuning irratic or does it just keep going flat and flat only?

Re: Replacing my Ibanez bridge

Do the chapstick trick. The best replacement for an Edge III is an OFR.

Re: Replacing my Ibanez bridge

It seems to be flat only.

I'm not sure how....but it looks to be holding steady again. I'm going to check it in the morning.

Where's the best place online to get an OFR? Is it worth to buy used or just buy a new one, if that is the route I go?

If this is your first floater, grab the low E and pull it like you're trying to break it, and tell me if it doesn't drop 2 whole steps.

It dropped a little more than a half-step down out of tune.

Overnight everything drifted flat.

Re: Replacing my Ibanez bridge

That means the strings aren't properly stretched from the sounds of it. I had the exact same problem when I first started using a floating tremolo. If you aren't pulling on it hard enough, the low E in particular can seem to be properly stretched without actually being completely stretched out.

Re: Replacing my Ibanez bridge

Did a restretch and I'm back to square one. Still drifting flat. By A string is actually drifting sharp. I'm positive I have it setup correctly and the strings are stretched. This is exactly what started happening last week when I posted my first thread about the bridge.

I ,ay be a newbie with the trem, but I'm confident I have the basics down, and want to believe that there may be an issue with the bridge.

Should I just say screw it and drop in an OFR?
