Respect for the SC S Classic Models

I know my Ibanez history and these guitars became the SZ and now SZR guitars but...

I was wondering why you see the original SC620, SC420 and SCA220 guitars for so cheap? I've seen them on EVIL BAY as well as THE LIST OF CRAIG pretty cheap for a Japanese made guitar.

Anyone know why they have such a low resell value?

Re: Respect for the SC S Classic Models

Resell value on old guitars is based on demand, more obscure models tend not to have anywhere near the same level of demand. That's why the RG-550 used price spiked when the reissue came out, because it brought a lot more interest to the original models.

The people under the delusion that guitars are a good investment tend to mess around with the price more so than the actual quality of the guitar with older models. If the guitarist from Paramore or some other relatively well known band (doesn't matter if they are good or not, just someone that gets a lot of press) started using Ibanez SC and saying how great they are, the price would go up.

Not to sound shallow, but I always thought that the SC was ugly, with those horrible knobs and the funky headstock.

Re: Respect for the SC S Classic Models

i've got a sc620 (sorry no pics available)
yeah the knobs are a little ugly but i replaced them, the heastock is what i like the most eastetically talking.gorgeous ebony board!
playing-wise it is very very comfortable and esy to play, very good sound, just a little midrangey when not pugged in.
only complaint is the control cavity, very very bad and difficult to work on the inside of it...
anyway if they're so cheap, lets buy one and play it, that guitar deserves to be played!

How do you like the neck? It's a bit thicker, yeah?

yes, the neck is a bit ticker, but is comfortable and easy to play! i used to play only on thin neck as seen on dinky or rg but when i switched to this guitar neck was no problem!
