retrofit trs2 (dont kill me)

im wondering if i can retrofit a lo-trs2 into an edge cavity. before you rip me to bits and use my bones to slit your own wrists to deal with the pain, read on.
so im still rebuilding that rgr470 jap-only
im saving to get myself a lo pro (or maybe an edge pro, but thats another thread).
in the meantime, can i slap in a craphat lo-trs2 a friend is offering me for $15, like just to get me by in the meantime?

Re: retrofit trs2 (dont kill me)

You'll have problems for two reasons: one is that TRS studs are smaller than Edge studs and therefore will not fit in Edge bushings. Secondly, the TRS' baseplate is wider than an Edge, so it will not fit appropriately in a cavity routed for an Edge. At least that's the problems I encountered trying to do something similar. The 470 initially had an Edge, right?

The early MIJ470 had an Edge one year in think.

Re: retrofit trs2 (dont kill me)

omfg getting ripped off. very nice lol.
yeah it was edge routed.
btw not just mij. only sold in japan, the model i have. at least thats what i was able to see. its dated to 97 and the us catalogs from 95 to 99 only show one rgr470 and dont have it in that color. however it does show up in japans catalogs for 97

anyways so it wont work. oh well

The TRS baseplate isn't wider than an Edge! I retro-fitted an Edge in to my LO-TRS II RG470 and I had to dremmel out the cavity a bit to fit it.

Maybe it was a tolerance issue, but I had a couple Edge-routed bodies and some TRS trems and they did not fit because the trems' baseplates were a couple hairs bigger than the route. These were regular TRS' and maybe the Lo-TRS is different.
