reverse headstocks..

what does ibanez have against having a reverse headstock guitar available in the USA? theres a plethora of them in japan, but none in the US. they are all made in japan, so they already have the machines set up for it......is there a reason that they dont have one available here?

a perceived lack of demand here, maybe? or maybe those are just high end models that might not have a high enough demand here. i guess it really comes down to demand + supply.

i wish i had a reversed headstock RG550.

I think reverse headstocks have had their day for the most part.

I really liked them back in the '80s and early '90s, but now they're just not my taste any more, unless they're on a faded tobacco-sunburst Firebird V.

There's this very tasty RGR580 model in Japan that I like very much.
Not only it has the reverse headstock, but also a solid mahogany body and all maple neck.
To add insult to injury the ishibashi sell it for 56,000JPY which is around £320. No chance of getting a new RG5xx here for less than £450.

So it might be worth it importing one.

I used to hate the way they look, but ever since getting my PGM's, I like them. I find it easier to quickly tune the guitar since your freting hand is already under the neck ;-)

i used to hate reverse headstocks for just that reason eddie, too uncomfortable to tune. but youre right, the more i play with a 3 on 3 headstock the more i like the tuners on the bottom hehe

good call btw. if only they made a PGM with an edge that didnt cost a grand lol
