RG-470 sounds weak...

I recently put in a BL XL-500X in my 470, it sounded great at first, but now it seems to sound really weak and thin like a strat, in a real bad way. i have no idea what could be doing this, i'm using a 500k pot, any ideas?

Check your solder connections... you might have a dry or loose joint.

i'm not even sure if i wired it correctly now that i really look at it, does anyone have a diagram by chance? i'm using a five way switch.

what pickups do you have in total
neck, bridge and middle(if applicable)
im assuming the neck and bridge are hums, is the middle a single, a humbucker/hum-cancelling single, a standard single, or is it not there?

It sounds like a weak solder joint to me too.

Just double-check the connection, and maybe re-solder it completely to see if that is the problem.

You can find plenty of wiring diagrams on seymour duncan's site. Make sure you just use it as a rough guide and not follow it completely since the color code's different.

Resolder the whole thing again.

ya i have the BL 500 neck, and just the standard single in the middle (the one that came with the guitar). i'm just going to redo the whole thing. thanx guys

it sounds like you bought the Bill Lawrence USA L-500. If it was not purchased from www.billlawrence.com its prolly mass produced which means it may not have been thoroughly tested before distribution which means it could be a **** pup. I love my L-500R/L-500XL to death.

ya i got a cheap crappy one at first, asked here, and then got a good one direct from them. rewired the whole thing, sounds much better.

get wiring diagrams from either dimarzio or duncan. theyll have what you want unless you want some funky setup
