be careful with ebay. prices can get artificially inflated, especially during the last seconds when everyone tries to outbid each other. try to get the seller to send better pictures to make sure the guitar is good shape. good luck!

get a 570 for 400 bucks. music 123 dot com and guitar trader dot com have them for that price. i know the colors suck, but you can always refinish. thats what i'm doing. unless of course you really want the mahogony body and H-H pickup configuration. i'm actually going to refinish my 570 by putting a veneer quilited sapele top on it and staining it that same color as the 520(in blue i assume) i'd do it now but its a brand new guitar that i paid 25 bucks to get set up.

Ive never seen sapele for sell anywhere. good luck finding it. I say get a 520 used. You might want to change the pickups. Some people prefer it without a single coil. I for one have guitars with both setups and dont care. But the mahogany is to die for, and the 520 to me at least, is the best in the 500 series

It just is. It's like a 59 LP. It's an 80's shred legend-brings a nostalgic tear to any ageing rockers eye. Plus its got great specs and plays like a dream.

but the 520 and 570 are almost the same thing. i'm still trying to decide how i'm going to refinish my guitar. i might make it look like a 550, but with a rosewood fretboard, not black with a black pickguard though

yeah, it's almost the same thing, but it's not exactly the same. i guess a lot of it is really just nostalgia. Ibanez made a lot of 550's over the last 15 years, and with so many 550 owners out there, it's enough for their opinions to "rock the boat."

Which RG520 do you have?

Actually they ar as different as RG's can get: different body wood, different pickup combination...which still makes them almost the same thing...
