Hi Guys,
I own 3 Ibanez RG styled guitars : RG570(Edge,EMG81), RGR570(LoPro,Tonezone), JEM7DBK(Edge Pro,Breeds). All
Basswood bodies. pickups mentioned on the bridge.
I've been thinking of replacing one with a mahogany-body for heavier and shreddy metal work since I heared an mahogany Iceman (hard tail).
Situation is the following, I tend to sell my RG570 and would have to add some cash to obtain a mahogany-body guitar. I'm looking at used :
-RGT42DX (Edge pro 2), comes with 2 EMG81's : +100$
-Gibson Flying V '67 reissue : +500$ (neck and body completely 1 piece Mahogany, hard tail)
I might look for an Iceman, but they are rather rare for sale aroud here. Had my eyes on a PS10-II, but that's +1000$ (aarg) Flying V's are really cool, but it's a serious extra price for me now. I'm a bit reluctant for the RGT since it's korean and has a Edge pro 2, but I never played one, maybe it's as good as my RG570.
Maybe some of you will tell me to stick with the basswood because Mahogany won't help me that far for what I want. (I just saw the "Iceman for shreddin"-thread)
Thanks for your opinions and advice.
