RG Neck woods

Are they cheaper/lousier on lower end models (RG 500 and down) than on higher end guitars (RG 550 and up)??

The reason I'm asking is that the neck on my 5 year old 450ex has become totaly screwed up!! Possibly beacause of the temperature changes here (I live in Norway). It looks like a spiral now Intonation is of course totaly off. Unplayable!!

Will a 550 neck handle the temperature changes better??

Again, excuse my poor english..

I don't really think so. But newer Wizard necks have that bubinga stripe in the back, to avoid stuff like this.

Hmm.. try to take of the neck and loose the truss rod completely for a few days. Maybe the wood will warp back then.

That's part of the drawback with 1-piece flatsawn necks... i don't think they're as stable as a quartersawn neck or a multi-laminate neck.

For a while, Ibanez was really pushing quality by using quartersawn wood on the necks of all their midrange and high-end guitars (my 1992 442R, for example, has a 1-piece quartersawn maple neck), but now they seem to be doing more 3-piece and 5-piece multi-lam necks across the board.

If a lam has the stability at lower price, that's understandable. Some will complain about the sound, but...

Another option is graphite rods. Carvin uses these to good effect.

Just got it back from my local music store. I dont know what they did to it but they fixed the neck somehow

.. And whow! -Plays great! aaah! ..hope it lasts! Anyway I'm going to buy a newer bubinga equipped RG 550. But it would have been a great loss to to throw away my good, old 450. We have gone through a lot toghether.
