RG2EX1 Vs. RG7321

Well. I wanted to compare the RG2EX1 with a RG321, but there was no RG321 locally to compare to. So I picked up the RG7321.

There is a big difference in neck feel and playablilty in my opinion. The 7321 had a neck like the Prestige or J Craft models with the 5 piece maple walnut combo.

In my research this week I have found that the RG2EX1 and the RG321 probably have the same necks. Not bad necks at all, but not as nice as the Japanese models.

If the Model up from the RG321 has a neck like the 7321 did. That is the hardtail to buy.

I know... I know Apples and oranges. I am commenting on the neck only and I realise the 7 string neck differs from the 6, but I am talking build quality and playability only.

...and I like the EMG designed in the EX1.

I almost bought the RG7321, but I am not sure Iam ready for 7 strings yet. I have been playing with 6 for 15 years now.

The RG7321 is a great player... I've never really picked up any other RGEX since I got my RG4EX1: Don't want another guitar center exclusive .

Playing a 6 string for 15 years? You're more than "ready" for a 7 string. Just get ready to deal with mud and flabby string gauges.

What don't you like about the Guitar Center exclusives? They seem to be just a crop of pre paid, spoken for models of the RG import line.

the only difference I can tell is that the GC models have features not included on the catalog models.

Naaaaw, just don't buy the craptacular standard sets available for 7-strings, you can guarantee the B string is too sloppy. Put together a custom gauge from single strings:

9-12-16-24-32-44-59

I think you'll find that's perfect (if you're a 9's user).
