RG3120 or USA Strat

Ive just picked up a Fender Deluxe USA stratocaster HSS '05 model but have been offered a 2001 Rg3120 in the bluey type finish. It would be a straight swap, do you think it would be worth it? I do like the older 3120 and Id like to know what others think of the guitar, what did they cost new and what sort of value are they worth now??
Any opinions would be most appreciated.

It depends on which you prefer. tHey are both VERY different guitars. You might want to play each other's guitars to know what you're trading with. BUT, if it were me, I'd go for the 3120 since it's nearly everything I want in a guitar.

3120 for me ....Fender is nice but... I still will take an ibanez first than fender later... that's just me though

If it comes down to money, I believe new Strats go for about $850-900. You can find a good earlier 3120 on the 'bay for about $800.

Should you trade? They are very different guitars. Me, I'd be all over the 3120, if only because they've been discontinued. Whereas as the Strat will never be discontinued!

Looks like the strats are going for $1200 new... just checked a couple of places online. So if it's new and that's what you payed for it you'd definitely be losing money on the deal.

However, if you really like the 3120, I'd say go for it. At the end of the day it comes down to which you like to play more.

I paid $875 for the Fender which was only a few months old as the guy I got it from hardly used it so its pretty much unplayed.
Ive already missed out on a 3120 as Id bought a 550 earlier but I do love the 3120 flamed top.
I was hoping that the guitars were roughly about the same value so I wasn't going to lose out too much.

Yup if you paid $875 for the strat then it's a pretty even trade 'value' wise. Of course I think the real value boils down to which you like to play more
