RG3120 vs RG2020 - what are the differences?

These guitars (with the exception of the peizo) look to be the exact same, Is there any differences at all? Anyone played both guitars?

The 3120 has a maple top, while the 2020 is just solid mahogany. *I believe the 2020 the has Ibanez V pickups, while the 3120 has Dimarzios. *The 2020 has a fatter neck. *

arn't both necks on thes guitars wizards? how different do they feel?

the rg3120 has a prestige wizard neck while rg2020 has a normal wizard neck.
I´ve played both guitars and I have to tell you they´re both great!!! There´s only one thing I don´t like about 3120... the neck pickup. The Paf Pro just doesn´t work for me.
And the 2020... the only thing that sucks is the pickups. If you´re planning to buy one I´m pretty sure you have to change the pups.
In the end they´re both supr great guitars. But if I had to choose I´d go for Rg2020 ´cause of the piezo!! I have a 2027 and it sounds great!!

i haven´t played a 2020 but I have a 3120 and it´s a great guitar. It has two DiMarzio pickups-tone zone and paf pro. Great silky feel to the neck, it´s amazingly thin and feels great to play. The only thing I miss is the piezo option that the 2020 has. The 3120 looks much better too with the flamed maple top. Mine has the vintage violin finish and looks amazing.

One more thing on the necks...even though both are supposed to have "wizard" necks, the do have different back profiles. *I've played lots of 3120s (have owned two), and the neck is pretty close to the standard skinny wizard. *But the two RG2020s I've played both have necks that feel substatially fatter to me. *Even the S2020 has a fatter feeling neck. *Try them both if you can. *I prefer the skinnier neck, so that was enough to sway me away from either of the 2020s.

By fatter, do you mean more of a round profile? sort of like a JPM neck?

Yep, you got it--bigger, rounder back profile...but same flat fretboard radius.

Man I decided to get the 2020 insted of the 3120. I really wanted the 3120, but figured they couldnt be that different, and besides the 2020 has piezo. Well the other day i finally played a 3120. That things neck killed my 2020. I didnt even have to warm up, and I was killing the licks out of it. The neck is quite a bit slimer than the 2020.
I wish I would have waited for a 3120. Especially at since there almost at the same price.
