RG321MH Bad or Bargain?
I was thinking of getting one of these for A/drop A/B tunings. Does the price reflect the quality or are they a bargain?
Also what pick up would go well in the neck for these tunings. I intend to have a
Duncan Invader
in the bridge and wanted something a bit more lead orientated in the neck, Dimarzio or Duncan.
Thanks.

Re: RG321MH Bad or Bargain?
I have one of these guitars and it is the best bang for your buck guitar on the market right now IMO. Even so, I don't know if it'll be able to handle a string gauge thick enough for drop A tuning or if that's even advisable with anything but a
baritone guitar
because intonating the guitar down that low with a 25.5 scale could be very difficult. If that's the tuning that you want to play in then I would suggest getting either a 7 string or a baritone guitar.

Re: RG321MH Bad or Bargain?
i have a one with Tone zones dropped to CGCFAD. It is greeeeaaaaat!
But for A, you'd probably be better off with an RG7321

I have one right now tunned to Drop C. Works fine. Great for the money.
I don't use it too much though cause i love
floating bridges

Bargain to be sure. It is a great guitar and the price is indeed bargain, not bad.

Re: RG321MH Bad or Bargain?
I totally agree that it's a great guitar and the passive pickups that I would suggest for the neck would be like the
Air Norton
or the SD Jazz neck. I have no doubts that the guitar could handle going down to Drop C because I have another RG and an S series guitar in that tuning but drop A is quite a bit lower than drop C and I just don't know if it'll intonate being tuned that low or if you can get the strings not to buzz on the neck with the insanely thick strings you'd have to use to achieve that tuning. Really for anything beyond drop C I would suggest either a baritone or a 7 string.

Re: RG321MH Bad or Bargain?
I have one that I keep in Drop C as well. It seems to be the official Drop C guitar of Jemsite. It's awesome. I have 10-52's on there and I had to file the nut a bit in the slots for the E and A strings. It keeps tuning really well, and it plays great. The stock pick ups are muddy as F**k though, so I'm swapping it for a
Seymour Duncan
Dimebucker.
If you can grab one, do so, they're a great bang for the buck.

Re: RG321MH Bad or Bargain?
I have an RG421, and an RG2771 Prestige. Both
fixed bridge
RG's and I absolutely love them to bits. I borrowed an RG321 in mahogany last year for a while - and it was great! Perfect for low-tuned riffage and all that stuff. I have my RG421 tuned to CGCFAD also, and the RG2771 tuned to DADGBE. And both of them handle it fine.
I say go for the RG321, it is an absolute Bargain.

Re: RG321MH Bad or Bargain?
It looks like a good guitar to me. My RG7321 is a pretty solid good guitar but I found the
bridge saddles
to be pretty terrible. The first thing I would do if I got one is swap out the saddles for some graphtech ones. I did that on my RG7 and I have had zero problems with it since (the stock saddles were eating strings every few hours), it got my trust back with that guitar. It's my main gigging guitar at the moment.

Re: RG321MH Bad or Bargain?
That's the great thing about the RG321/7321. They are great bang for your buck guitars to begin with and they are also really easy to mod.

Re: RG321MH Bad or Bargain?
I've had one for about 18 months that I keep at my band's rehearsal room. I use it for drop tunings on stage and about 75% of our sets during rehearsals.
I added
DiMarzio Tone Zone
and Air Norton pickups and this guitar is schweeeeet!
