RG350DX opinions?

Does anyone own one of these? I've always liked the Rg series 6-string. The white one seems to stand out to me because it's one of the few that has a matching headstock (non black) & is still affordable. Please shed some light on these guitars.

I'm in a bit of a bind, I'd like an RG with a pickguard but my only options appear to be the RG550 (too expensive) and the RG350DX (ugly sharkfin inlays - sorry, never liked 'em). I reckon I'll have to pick up a new RG370 with an Edge Pro II and just make my own mirror pickguard. And cut a monkey-grip. And a give it a green burned stained finish. And Breeds. Hehehe.

if you absolutely HAVE to get a korean-made ibanez, i suggest you try out a bunch of them first and choose the one that "feels good" and plays well.
give them a good workout at the store and pick the best one. my experience with the lower end korean-made ones is that their quality is very INCONSISTENT. you'll find bad ones and you'll find some good ones -- hopefully, you can find a "good" one

yes the 2003 models have a "much" better trem than before.
but the quality of the wood, the construction and feel of the neck and frets, and the overall construction/feel og the guitar are more important factors to consider.

if you really want an RG type guitar with a matching headstock, i'd really recommend going for a PGM -- the 2003 models are a GREAT DEAL considering what you are getting.

also, my general recommendation to anyone considering a korean-made ibanez is to save up a bit more and go for the japanese-made RG5xx.
you will be really happier with it in the short and long run.

Well, the issue of quality is subjective. I just sold a UV777BK (the 2nd one I've owned) because it just sucked compared to my 1st one. It always had something wrong with it.

I wouldn't mind a PGM, but those painted F-holes just kill that guitar for me. Anyone have suggestions on a RG 6-string with a MATCHING headstock, Floyd Rose, & an H-H pup configuration? Please help.

I was in the same bind several years ago. Ended up searching out a used RG550. It was about 10 years old when i got it, but in excellent condition. Japanese made, Edge trem, just set it up to my taste, threw some evolutions in there, and love it now.

I have to echo erikm5150 on the fact that the korean-made guitars are much less consistent in quality than the japanese models, hence the reason i went the used route.

i understand what you are saying..
hey, if you find one that you like, go for it.
like i said, you will an RG350 that is well made and plays well.
my first ibanez was an '89 EX series, sounded good after i changed the pickups. it was a good guitar for me, and i had no problems with it. it served me well for years, until the scarf joint broke.

The RG 250 DX I have is a VERY nice axe. I had to look and see if they were, the 350 and the 250 were the same and they are. I didn't need to change it to a JEM to make it a nice guitar. There are undoubtedly nicer guitars out there, but the question is how are the 350 DX's? The 250 I have stays in tune, and the whammy visits the basement quite often. The sound however is very bottom heavy. I can rid it of that when I want to with the peddles. Other than that, it plays very well. I have had buddies with Strats, Pauls and stuff who have played my 250 and they all are really suprised at how nice it is. AND, if you want to mod it out, you can without feeling you've desecrated anything.

Yours in fellowship
