Re: RG450?

I ordered a pair of Goldo Back Boxes. I read something that said I'd only need one, but I wanted to use the "over-kill" method.
Now the fun part....... the instructions are in GERMAN.
You say "sprechen zie Deutch?"
I say "nein."
I don't read or speak German.

Re: RG450?

I upgraded my Ibanez RG470 MIJ with an Edge trem and Dimarzio evolution pickups, IMO it has nothing to envy with and RG570

Re: RG450?

My first Ibanez was a '94 450. I have loved that guitar for years. I just recently picked up a '90 550. I could not believe how similar they are. When I play them unplugged, I CANNOT tell a difference, other than tremolo. I expected that the 550 would smoke the 450 in quality at least, but other than hardwear they are identical. Maybe I just got a really nice 450? I've never had any issues with it at all, other than the tuning stability when I rock the tremolo. I think the lo trs is to blame for that.

Re: RG450?

RG450 is pretty good value for what it is.

It has a basswood body and V7-S1-V8 pickups configuration, which is the same as RG550. The 2 major difference between the RG450 & RG550, are the Lo Trs bridge on the RG450 is one step below the Edge on the RG550, but the quality of the bridge itself is still unquesionable, although most of RG450 has Cosmo Black finish on the Lo Trs, which fades very quickly. second is the bubinga reinforced neck that RG550 equipped, which makes the Low profile Wizard neck stronger.

RG450 is a bit rarer than RG550, most of RG450 were sold in Asian, European countries, but RG550 were designed to sold worldwide.

Re: RG450?

my 450 had an edge trem and was mij i swapped the stock pups for paf pro's and got gotoh tuners, i couldnt tell the difference. even the neck said rg550 on it. but most 450's you come across will have a lo trs or other cheap trem, most people couldnt tell the difference between the 2 guitars unless they were experts.

it was my main guitar until i got my 550, i go US$400 for it on the bay

Re: RG450?

the 450 also had a standard heel unlike the 550's which had a slant

Re: RG450?

I think it also had a different jack input., it was mounted on a metal plate, just like the low-end RG's. I would imagine the pots and wiring might have been lower quality too.

I've never seen a 450 in the flesh, only in pics.

You are correct. My 550 and 7620 both have the same jack, but the 450 is more of an external mount. A guy could probably build himself a really nice guitar pretty inexpensively by jammin some higher quality hardwear on a 450.

I figured, but I like to show off the Roadstars.

The 1986 RGs are be far the most comfortable Ibanezes, IMO.

Re: RG450?

I picked a very nice one up not too long ago and while it isn't my main guitar, it's become my favorite practice guitar. I don't use the trem and have no trem blocks and it still holds it's tune pretty good.

Just realized the other day that I need to fix the input jack (scratchy)

Pretty nice guitar
