RG450 as project guitars? - will I be able to live with it (

I'm currently toying with the idea of purchasing a used RG450 or 470 with [ashamed] a TRS trem[/ashamed] !!!

However I'd block the trem as I'm after a fixed bridge guitar to play around with silly altered tunings.

so my question is how would the TRS fare as a bridge rather than as a whammy bar thingy, and/or would I even need a 400 series - could I get away with an RG3xx or even 2xx? I've never owned anything "below" the 5xx series before!

I just want to chop change paint etc it.

I know I should go for a 550 but over here they're just a little too expensive to warrent this sort of behavior

RG450 as project guitars?

Jono, go for it! *I bought a RG450 for $260 and it was money well spent. *The neck is so similar to the JEM profile you wouldn't believe it. *The TRS isn't amazing but you can block it and it's fine, or you'd also be able to switch out the TRS for an original Floyd Rose. *That's what I did. *It's my practice guitar and it holds up next to my jem for playability. *Now if only it had that tone, attention to detail and appearance!

nope, just basswood, but it's still a great player. *The tone is a little more growly than on my JEM, but I love it.
