RG547

Hi,

Totally new to this site.. I stumbled across it looking for some info on my RG.

I bought it about 10 years ago and it is an RG547.

Here is a pic:

Just wondered if anyone knows anything about this guitar and what it might be worth.

Did a search and there were a couple of threads it was mentioned in but no real info. I can't find it in any of the Ibanez catalogues either. The serial number is F513530 - I presume this means it was made in 1995?

Thanks for reading!

Mark

Re: RG547

Cheers,

I'm thinking of selling it so that gives me some idea. I presume you mean US Dollars.

Or do I keep it?!

Oooh, nice guitar!

Original EDGE bridge too. I'd say keep it, and put some hotter pickups in there.

Looks like a nice guitar, and I don't recall ever seeing one. I would hold on to it. Please don't give it away for a stupid price. Pickups: it might look good with cream and black zebras. Two black Ibanez Sure Grip II knobs too.

Re: RG547

Sell it it me for a fiver ?

But yeah on the UK market, probably about £400 or so would be a sensible price to offer it at (unless you do wanna sell it to me for a fiver? )

Re: RG547

Thanks for the replies people.

The guitar is in dire need of a good setting up really, intonation is all out etc etc. I've had a read through of all the guides on here so might will give it a go myself.

I really don't play it regularly enough (my knackered old acoustic gets most of my attention) but would like to. I think perhaps if I upgraded the pickups (any recommendations?) and got it all perfectly set up I'd be more tempted to get it out of the case. It is a nice guitar and probably not worth selling for £400.

Thought a new guitar might provide some inspiration but it's kind of a rare looking RG, and has the edge bridge so I think I'll get it up to scratch.

The body is perfect but the fretboard could do with a good clean and some of the gold on the hardware has faded.

Thanks again, I'll continue to read the site!

Re: RG547

Just thought I'd add a bit of an update to this thread.

I had my guitar set up by Max at Cottam Guitars last week, picked it up on Friday.

It is now SUPERB. Completely rekindled my love for it, I am playing it non stop!

Thanks for the advice to keep it! I'm so glad I did.

Had a chat about pick up upgrades as well so this may be on the horizon.

Cheers!
