rg550 shipping? help!

wasn't sure where to post this at all so if it needs to be moved, please help moderators...

i need to know what's the easiest way/cheapest way that you guys use to ship guitars? i tried to get a shipping quote and it came up as $47 for alabama <-> maine.

does this sound pretty high to you all or is there an easier way to do it? separate the pieces and ship each in their own distinct box? any ideas would be very helpful!!

trying to finish this deal off as soon as possible, so any quick help would be great

That seems about right for UPS or FedEx. If you can take the neck off and get it and the body into a box that measures under 70 inches total width, length and height, USPS would be the cheapest way. Regardless of which carrier you use, package it as if it was going to get tossed down a flight of stairs.
