RG550DX FINALLY!

This was an exciting week for me! I finally got one! And it's pretty near mint too!

This one happens to be a 93'. I'm not really a buff on this model or anything. Was that a good year for this axe?

I had an "Electric Blue" '93 model and it was one of the better RG's that I've owned. I really miss that guitar! Congrats on such a great find! Enjoy it!!

I got the same axe 'cept it's a year older ('91 serial number but i know they didn't come out 'til 92). Kinda interesting that the previous owner I got my PN from wanted to install EMG's exactly like yours before it was sold to me...
I just prefer colored DiMarzio's :P

Also, do you guys think I should put colored knobs on it? I'm toying with either pink or yellow but I'm afraid they might be ugly.

custom ordered through banjomikez on the 'bay...

before adding the purple metal knobs, I had purchased a set of "pink" plastic knobs thinking they were purple but once installed, it didn't quite "blend" with the rest of the axe.
I have yellow knobs from a UV777GR I can install on the PN, I can take a shot of that in case you want to see a "glimpse" of what it could look like.

purple/yellow reminds me of a LA Lakers jersey

Yellow knobs + Red tip from UV777GR. Kinda weird the red tip looks pink on a GR but looks fire engine red with the PN... I assume it's in the physics of how color reflects and absorb


Extra set of Green knobs [Allparts] + Violet Metallic tip

The yellow's not bad, but the switch tip needs to be different... maybe yellow as well? *shrug*

regardless, don't ya just dig how the purple changes at different angles?

How do the EMG's sound in there?
Never been a big fan of EMG's paired with Ibby's, but that's just me...

Yes it is indeed a beautiful axe.

The EMG's are quite different with a maple neck. I haven't played it long enough to put my finger on it, but the dynamics are definitely different.
