actually I think otherwise. I would choose for the RG620, for all reasons in favor of the RG620 mentioned above. It depends of course what you want, but IMO the singlecoil is useless (sorry, am a little bit of a metal head
). So my vote would be the RG620, although also the RG570 is fairly cool of course

thanks for your opinions on this guys
but now the store has a 550 for about 100 $ cheaper than the 570/620....
which is the better one of the 550/570 in your opinions?

I like a scratchplate on the RG style body, so I'd go for the RG550.
Neither is really better, it's just a choice between maple or rosewood for a fingerboard and whether you like the pickguard or not.

i agree, it is a matter of opinion, i personally like all the rg 5xx's but in my opinion the 570 is my fav. I mean i like the 620 but i really dont think that i need the piezo double edge, I think that is your going for an acoustic sound, then play an acoustic.

hyesac, just to get you up to speed on this topic, I believe that we were referring to the RG620QM not the RG620X that's available here in the US.

Well "the best" is which ever sounds best to
YOU
.
There's no other way around it. John Suhr thinks the best sound comes from a
basswood body
with a maple cap.
Steve Vai
's main squeeze, Evo, is made from alder. Satch's chromeboys are basswood. Head and Munky have their signature guitars made from mahogany.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the Chromeboys made of Luthite?

LOL - yes ... and no ...
The production run of JS10th anniversary guitars are made of Luthite, but Joe's prototype/limited production run JS2 Chromeboys are basswood.
Rich has one of the JS2s and can probably clear up any confusion better than I can.

Yeah. so the question is, "Do you like the sound of mahogany, or basswood?"
Go down there with your amp, grab all three guitars, and just plug in and play them all for a few hours. spend some time dialing up tones, and really push their capacities. At the end of this, buy whichever one sounds and feels best to you.
We're talking about three great guitars. At this level, "best" is an awfully arbitrary term. Me? i prefer the tone of basswood, i think... but i don't like middle singlecoils. It'd be a tossup.

I have played a RG 570EX yesterday, dunno which color it was but it looks beautiful. I did NOT like the pickups though! That V8 has a loud noise in the background dammit! And sadly the guitar was setup with high action (strings were setup WAY too high!) so I could NOT play a decent fast lick or riff.. Besides, I was hooked up to a Marshall 15Watt ****ty amp so it sounded bad anywayze..
The trem was also in a bad condition, strings always detuning a little bit and trem-stick was uncomfy... It was a bit loose, you had to move it way too far before it'd take along the trem itself.
Other than that, I guess that if you buy a RG 570EX, set the action to your fulfil ya needs, fix that trem-stick problem and exchange the p'ups.. I guess you have a killer axe!
