RG570 vs RG620

hi

until today my plans were to get a RG570, but this afternoon I got a look at a RG620...i found the 620 finsh (whisky brown) way more good looking...but which one is the best?
I have no need for the single coil pickup on the 570.

both have the same price, 7990 sek= about 800$...(yes, I know, sweden prices sucks bigtime)


well, it would be very nice of you to bring some kind of opinion on this

i would suggest the 570, if your into rock type music, but if your into both distortion type sounds and clean acoustic sounds i would go for the 620x, i personally like the 570, i have played the 620x at my local music shoppe and i miss having the single coil once in a while, so i can get those strat type bell sounds, but thats me. Well, hyesac, here in Europe we get the RG620 as well as the RG620X. The RG620 has a 3 way switch and a bound, quilted maple top on a nato body and direct mounted pickups. It's a slightly different beast than the RG620X.

Technically the RG620 is regarded by Ibanez as the "better" guitar, hence the higher designation... 620>570.

As far as I know, nato is a wood very like mahogany and should thus sound fairly similar. This is something you shuld consider, whether you like the sound of the 620 over that of the 570. Coupled with this is the fact that the 620 has only 2 pickups, many like the space in the middle, others prefer the versatility of the H-S-H pickup configuration.

Personally If you like the colour of the RG620 better, I think you should go for that one. If you think your guitar looks cool, you'll be more tempted to practice

but what is the differnence between a 620 and a 520? the mahogny is one thing...is there anything else?

The RG620 has piezo pick-up system built into the tremolo bridge, so you can get clean acoustic like sounds from the guitar.

are you sure? I think that the piezo-modell is called 620X.

If there's no piezo in the 620, then they're very similar, ecept for the single-coil.

You are right.
The normal 620Q doesn't have the double edge bridge.
the 520 has humbucker rings.

The differences between the RG620QM and the RG520QS include slightly different body woods, a bound top on the RG620. A three way switch on the 620 instead of a 5 way on the 520 and the aforementioned difrect mounted pickups.

Just because it is a higher number 620 to 570, doesnt neccesarily mean that the 620 is better, its a matter of personal preference, NOT because the 620 is a higer number than 570 does it mean that it is better! Personally i like the RG 570RM, i like the color of the rootbeer metallic some people say that it looks ugly because its brown, but when you look at it it looks like black, and i also like that is has metal humbucker rings and the cosmo black colored hardware, and many people also say that the paint on the edge trem wears off, i have had my 570 for 6 months and it hasnt worn off at all, and i palm mute ALOT! So... in my opinion i would definetely pick the 570!

Not quite a JP switch, I am pretty sure the 620's have just a standard 3 way switch like the J-Custom RG8520LA/TRD. By the way I would definitely go for the RG620 over the RG570, I am not saying that RG570's are inferior guitars but they are by far less interesting (solid color finish, plasic inlays; a little boring if you ask me), plus they have a single coil pickup in the middle which for me (and possibly others) kind or interferes with picking.

yeah yeah, not exactely a JP-switch but isīs more JP than the one on my JS100...

I agree with the statement that personal opinion plays a huge part in deciding which guitar is for you... But, from Ibanez's point of view as the guitar's manufacturer, the increase in numerical value in the designation usually does indicate which they class as a "better" guitar. That's why the lowest in the range RGs made in Korea I think, with poorer standard woods and hardware are called the 100 series and those made with slightly better hardware are called the 200 series, through the 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700 series.

I'm not going to knock the RG500 series at all, my main players are an RG550 and an RG770 both using a basswood body which I really like. I'm just saying that as a general (but by no means definitive) rule, the higher the number in the guitar's name the higher quality materials and components it's made from.

Oh and I'll just add, that out of those 2, the RG570 adn the RG620, I'd go for the RG570 as well I like the added versatility of the middle pickup
