RG770FM or RGR580

Which one would be the better choice? I like the neck dimensions for the RG770FM, but I like the fact that the RGR580 is a mahogany body with a maple neck and fretboard. The RG770 has QM1 & QM2 stock pickups, RGR580 has a V6f in the bridge and one in the neck positions. I would probably replace at least the bridge pickup on either.

The RG770 is about $710, the RGR580 is about $600.

I, too, am looking at the RGR580. Looks good to me, but where to find one?

Are they only available in Japan?

Well I think it really comes down to what you like best. Even if it's the looks, both of them will be great guitars.

First I'd recommend you set out what you're looking for in your new guitar and then makes a list of the features of the guitars on your shortlist, if they have differences you'd not decided which you liked better, make that choice and then see which you prefer on paper.

If you think "I was right all along" you'll know you have made the right choice, if you think "Hmm I'm not sure" you'll know you don't want the guitar you wanted on paper and you should seriously rethink before buying it.

Hmmmmm.....now the ishibashi site doesn't even show the RGR580....no longer available?
