RGR421EXFM, Pickup Ideas?
So, I would like to start by saying holy crap! Fantastic community here! I've been an on and off reader for a long time. No matter what Ibanez question I through at google someone has answered it here. Many thanks to all of you!
More to the point however, I'm really considering buying this axe.

$600 after tax here in Canada. I rarely keep stock pickups, (the exception being the RG320AMFM I got a couple years back), but I hear some OK things about the V7. The V8 however gets some pretty bad reviews wherever I look. They will both likely go eventually but the V8 is priority 1. I'm looking for a tight sound with great harmonics that has a good amount of gain but cleans up really well. I play alot of 80's rock/metal with lots of fast licks. Any thoughts or ideas on this one? I was thinking maybe an EVO2 but I have no idea. I'll be playing through a Peavey VK212 which is a 100 watt tube amp if that means anything to anyone. Any input is greatly appriciated!!

Evo2 is actually a pretty awesome pickup. I also really like the Mo Joe.
There are so many options, and I don't think you can really go wrong with any, but here are some popular combos:
Bridge = Tone Zone, Neck = Air Norton
Bridge = Norton, Neck = Humbucker from Hell
PAF Pros in Bridge and Neck
I think you would be happy with those for starters for 80's metal and so on.
And take advantage of Dimarzio's 30 day return policy. If you don't like 'em, try something else!

An excellent starting point would be Tone Zone or FRED in the bridge and an Air Norton or PAF Pro in the neck.

Re: RGR421EXFM, Pickup Ideas?
Thanks for the quick replys guys! I actually tried a Tone Zone in a RG370DX bridge, (Which I ended up replacing for a Bill Lawrence L-500XL). Could have been the amp I was playing through or my settings but, I didn't really care for it. Which surprised me alot. On the note of the 30 day return policy, I really did not realize that existed. I love Dimarzio! Does anyone have any experience with that guitar? I only got about 3 minutes of play time on it but I REALLY like the colour. I might be being blinded by it and missing some horrible detail but it seemed alright at the time. Any thoughts?

Bill Lawrence, bar none. L-500XL/R (bridge/neck) if you really want balls to the walls. If you want a more refined sound go with the L-90XL/R. I promise, once you go Bill Lawrence, you'll never go back. I'm not talking Bill Lawrence USA. I'm talking wildepickups.com. I have them in several guitars. I just bought a 2003 JEM7VWH and I'm going to replace the EVOs with Bill Lawrence pickups. The difference is amazing!i

Went with a PAF in the neck and a FRED in the bridge of my RGR420. Absolutely kicks the snot out of the factory wannabe emgs. And the Fred seems to have great harmonic qualities.
