RGR421EXFMBBS

How are these guitars? I'm looking for a shred guitar to upgrade from my Epiphond LP Special II, and my pricerange is anything under 800CAD.

The only thing I'm worried about is the made in Indonesia thing, because my LP Special II is also made in Indonesia, and is the biggest piece of **** I've ever seen. The fret ends have cut my palm on more than one occaision, the frets aren't levelled and therefore buzz and have dead spots, the nut is cheap plastic and not mounted properly, cut badly and the bridge is even worse. Routing is terrible.

Are all Indonesian made guitars like this, or just really low-end ones?

Any feedback about the RGR421EXFM is appreciated, and if anyone can reccomend any other fixed bridge guitar in my pricerange I'd be glad. Must have 24 frets, and I'm not interested in guitars with a tremolo and that come in black only. H/H, H/S/H and H/S/S pickup configs only, also.

If no one has any info on these guitars or experience with them, then at least give me a vague description of the Fixed Bridge series, please?

i have the 7 string version, rg7321fm, and you'll not be disappointed if your worried about build, it's equally on par with epiphones. Hope that helps a bit

As in on par with Epiphones, do you mean the high end ones? 'Cause if it's like the LP100 or LP Special II, it's pretty much a piece of crap.

Definately the higher end Epi's, even the worst Ibi's i have played dont compare to some of the **** Epiphone/gibson have the gaul to release.

I'm fairly certain it'll be fine, you MAY be unlucky and get a duff one, but we ALL run that risk, Good luck, and post a review when you get it i am watching a couple

I'll likely be getting it

The two used RG550s don't seem that reliable. One of them has a pretty large (in terms of size, not depth) dent in the headstock, so I'd imagine the neck would be like that too and the other's pictures all have bad lighting and were taken further away from the guitar, as if on purpose to hide something. I've asked for pictures, so we'll see about that, but chances are I'll be getting me an RGR421.

Also, does anyone know if the Flamed Maple top is real? I'm going to go ahead and guess it's either a Jackson-style veneer, or a a super thin Shecter style one that doesn't affect tone at all and sands off along with the finish.
