RT 650 in a natural finish?

Hi, with all the focus on the new Ibanez-line this one might be interesting: I found one in a natural finish, almost similar to this one but with a nicer and lighter transparant top:

http://www.jpsnet.jp/private/sumita/...data/rt650.htm

The problem is the following: In the catalog of 1993 I can only find a blue and red color (1993 being the only they were sold). What's the overall experience with the RT-series, there probably a reason that they've only been around for a year . I'm just curious, the money spent won't really be an issue, but I just don't want a lemonIbby

For people who don't know the guitar, I found some pics of regular RT650's:

and from ibanezrules:

I hear they made a few in Amber, the color you described, and its very rare. I'd reccomend it, I have an RT650 and I really like it.

RT650s are fantastic guitars. I had one, which was my #1 for 3 years. They were available in transparent blue (RT650GFB), transparent red, (RT650GFR), amber (RT650GFA), and the incredibly rare transparent green (RT650GFG).

RT650s were only made for two years (introduced in mid year 1992, discontinued prior to the '94 model year) due to poor sales. The RT line was created to appeal to guitarists who wanted vintage feel in a modern style guitar. While the results were (IMHO) impressive, nobody really bought them like Ibanez thought they would.

You won't be getting a lemon. These are fantastic rock guitars with a great vintage feel. The tuners lock which helps with tuning stability when you wanna be Hendrix, and the neck has the original Viper profile - which is very Strat-like and comfortable.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input My issue is as follows: Apart from guitar GAS I like really need a new livingroom-amp (to rule everyday without being annoying ), and I just have got barely enough dough for a new guitar (being a reserved RG2027 ). The thing is that they've got the RT at the same store and I will definately try to bargain the two at once. I am just frightened that my next step will worsen my GAS rather than better it, it would not be my first real cheap rare Ibbie ....

Should I go for it along with the RG2027?

Some RTs are rare (the green ones), some are scarce. Neither of which makes them valuable, per se. Most RT650s go for around $250 on eBay, with case.

Should you go for it along with the 2027? Sure, if you think you'll like it. In the end, the true judges are your ears and your hands.

It think it would fit in nicely next to my RX750, a guitar that is vastly underrated and a real jawdropper amidst my collection. The two guitars together would really make them both look valuable

I got mine today, the neck is completely brilliant (too bad it hasn't got an AANJ). It played a lot better than I'd expected, I'm used to a super wizard .

I got him for 150-200 euro's next to a RG2027 Buying two guitars at once is a real TRIP . Got two pics of mine, warning: bad quality
