S-series neck on a RG possible?

Hi y'all. I'm wondering if it's possible to order an original Ibanez neck if you go to an official dealer. For what Ive heard this is not done in Ibbyland, is there a reason for that?

What I would like to do is the following: I want a Sharkfin inlay wizard or superwizard neck on my S-520EX (makes it look quite agressive along with the leather finish I guess )
I would like to put the spare S-series neck on my RG, that is going to get a paintjob this summer (either a swirl or an airbrush ).

Can I put a 22fret (24" )neck on a 24fret-(25,5") made guitar. Not that I play it much, but the old one has got serious mileage...a new neck would do it good!

Ibanez will NOT sell you a neck, unless you provide the old defective neck when ordering.
You can try "eSmay" or if you have the cash, have one made.

Try mailing Jeff at Machinehead in the UK .
mailto:machinehead@dial.pipex.com

I spoke to him at Christmas and he had a 24 fret Ibanez sharkfin neck. Not sure of the specs but may be worth a try.

Do I really have to break my old neck to get a new one?

Funny, this is pretty much the question I just posted (http://www.jemsite.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=20268).

I'm curious if anyone's fitted any aftermarket necks on RGs. To add to my list of complaints, it's *very* difficult to give the 1st string a good vibrato on an RG's Wizard, and the string pulls off the fretboard all the time.

Try adjusting your technique. No one else here has a problem with that

Necks with different scale lenghts are not direct retrofittable. end of story. sorry man. Check out some of those custom shop links up top if you need something new.

Thx, I mailed him and see what that kind of tiding that brings. With 24 frets it would have to be put on my RG, but that's no big problem. If I get it airbrushed it will be kinda USAcustomish I guess if it also has a sharkfin neck

Too bad I can't swap necks with my S-series and RG, I was afraid it would turn out like that. And to try it at home without asking would be kinda foolish, don't you think

The answer is pretty much "yes"...
Due to problems with piracy and such, Ibanez is highly protective of their stuff. They don't want anyone to build a crappy POS guitar, attach a new neck from them, and then try to pass it of as REAL Ibanez guitar.
