S Series - what's the point of the S670?

What's the point of the S670 PB? It's the top of the S range, but it's basically the same guitar. In Canada there's approximately a CAN$400 difference between the S320 and S670 PB for the same guitar with a different finish. Am I missing something obvious??

It's almost all superfluous stuff. You're paying the extra $400 CAN for the poplar burl top, and fretboard inlays. The only difference you're really going to get tone wise, is the 670 has a middle single coil. Worth all that extra money? Only if you're really into that cool top it has.

I don't personally like the finish on the s320...would've been better if it was just a normal black. So if I had to pick, even being pricier, I would go for the S670

I'm with you, it's just not an appealing type of finish IMO, the pores and the exaggerated grain just look poor, and you have no choice on another finish.

Played the S670PB tonight - finally! An S series guitar that was properly setup. I think it as brand new, barely played at all so the strings were clean and the fretboard smooth. I don't like the finish but I was actually impressed. With better stock pickups I would have been very tempted. But at CAN$970 it's too expensive and too close to the RG1570. If it was $CAN700 I would have been tempted. But finally I was impressed and enjoyed playing it. I did notice a few spots on the neck that had poor sustain but overall it was nice.

I bought an S670 last year and I love it! The only thing that concerns me is the ZR trem arm holder. It plays like a dream though.
