Re: s470 broken tremolo....again

If I were you I would order and OFR arm holder from stewmac or you can have Dave from fretsonthenet.com build you a pop in style arm holder, or if you are bound and determined to have the original arm holder PM me and I have one you can have. You just have to pay for shipping. The other two options are better IMO!!

Re: s470 broken tremolo....again

in 03' when I first saw the ZR on an "S" guitar at guitar center, I bought it after 5 min. The guy told me "this thing will never go out of tune" As soon as I got the thing home, It wouldn't go "in" to tune!! I took it back and they promptly swapped out the whole guitar for another one for me. Yep, They're nice trems, I love em, but they are prone to break a bit more. My bar to this day, is still a bit loose.

I've had my S470 for a little bit now and it seems to stay in tune really good and the arm is snug in place

Re: s470 broken tremolo....again

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but my arm holder snapped again!

Haha! It lasted a good year this time...looks like it wiggled loose without me noticing and it snapped.

Anyway, did Ibanez ever fix the issue? Maybe made a new version of a tremolo arm?

Let me know if I have any other options besides ordering another one from Ibanez Rules.

Re: s470 broken tremolo....again

The ZR2 Trems use the arm holder from the Edge Pro instead of the original holder.

Alternatively, you can replace the arm holder with the arm holding assembly from a Floyd rose and it won't break again but you'll still have the option of screwing the bar in.

Re: s470 broken tremolo....again

ZR2 and EZ use the same holder. The parts and even part number are not available yet.

The ED/LP/EP arm holder will work but you loose the height and tension adjustability.

Or you replace the 2ZR29 again, it's not like it costs a fortune.

I have the 2010 ZR2 model and when i push the arm in i noticed two things:

1. the arm is really tight as in it doesn't turn that well, the arm stays in one position until i use it or push it out of the way.

2. i would have the tighten knob for the arm down by A LOT to keep it stable. There is a little "play" when moving the arm. In other words, the arm would slightly move before the trem itself moves.

any ideas on how to fix this?
thanks!

Loosen the torque cap and you'll get wobble in the bar. You can't have it both ways, choose which you prefer.

Steve, I had the same problem. I kept breaking the stupid plastic piece on my ZR trem about every 3 months. I finally, after replacing it for the 5th time, went to Stewmac and bought a OFR replacement unit. I think it was $20 total. Best money I ever spent. Just head over to Stewmac and search floyd Rose. You'll find everything you need. Good luck!

Sounds like the ZR trem isnt top quality in the lower priced guitars??? Im taking a guess- But the 1000.00 up guitars are better? please say it aint so? I thought all those Prestige series were the same Trem unit in the other S series?

Wow, grabbed the old Ibanez out of the closet tonight and remembered this site, and saw that someone revived this old post (a few months ago obviously)

That zr bridge is such a peice of crap! Ive been playing a modified Charvel/Fender So-Cal with an OFR and never looked back ...especially since my horrid ordeal with a certain Ibanez Parts Carrier A real floyd vs this thing is almost a religious experience.

So Floyd Rose arms will retrofit onto the ZR? might be a good idea!

If this is Steve Masterson from Michigan then you are one of the worst pieces of human filth I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The horrid ordeal was having to read your emails, wishing my children be born autistic, and worse. True scum.
