s470 broken tremolo....again

well it finnally happened again, my zr tremolo snapped from the inside rendering the bar useless.

the trem still functions as a bridge but the whammy wont screw in.

this is the second time this has happened, and the guitar was in even retrofitted with the 2005 zr2.0 trem which was supposed to fix this problem.

i play alot...but it lasted from july till now...so it was just stressed and then snap.

anyway does anyone know if floyd rose's will fit in s470 bodies without having to do anything..im pondering whether or not to just straight up buy a real trem instead of dealing with ibanez's crappy customer service again.

maybe the original or lopro...

man this blows...

Re: s470 broken tremolo....again

It's no secret the holders are prone to breaking, but replacing a great "functioning" trem because you don't want to replace a $10 part is shortsighted.

The V2 had nothing to do with the holder, all that did was change the adjustment method for the springs and add the downshifter.

You would think Ibanez would be doing something about this?

i want to replace the part, but ibanez is going to make me send my entire guitar into them which is going to cost 60 bucks to do, and im not going to have it for 3 weeks or so.

this is the 3rd time part of the zr trem has broke on me, youd think theyd get there head out of their asses and fix the problem, ive read all over the net about the metal 'threaded sleeves' that the trem arm screwed into, breaks alot.

and ive had v1 on originally and when ihad v2 iwas hoping they took care of the problem, obviously not.

It costs you $14 to fix the problem yourself.

Re: s470 broken tremolo....again

I had the same problem twice in my S520..
Why build a trem which is more expensive than lo-pro and it breaks down?
I mean, there's nothing wrong with the trem itself, except that the armholder breaks.. It's not made from metal that would be strong enough to handle the pressure..

NOTE THIS!
I figured out why it breaks! The nut behind the trem that tightens the screw, gets loose and when you use the arm it bends until it breaks. What I did was that I put some lock bond in the nut before I put it back to the screw and tightened it. DO NOT TIGHTEN IT TOO MUCH, IT WILL CHOP OFF! Just so much that It is properly set. I am going to take that trem to some metal workshop and install a new edge armholder to it.
